hockey, news, music, hockey, movies & hockey!
i tended to find that using the "quick pick subscriptions" tab on bloglines was not the best method. yes, i did manage to find a few items there, but quite a few that i tried came back with "no feeds were found"- so instead i just jotted down what i wanted and did a search by feeds instead. i found a plethora of items that way. i think it was easiest to do the searches than going to different sites, only because i was unaware of all the sites existing about HOCKEY, my one true love.
i would have to say the easiest search tool was bloglines. i did manage to find a couple of great hockey blogs through Google Blog Search. think i will stay away from the feedster and topix.net sites- a bit confusing for me.
in my discovery exercise, i cheated. 2 of my additions were from the kcls27things suggestion, as i wasn't able to find any library themed sites that interested me enough to want to read them. no unusual feeds found today!
bring on myspace! woot woot!

aragorn
aragorn was a semi-permanent fixture in the backroom of the bellevue library. when it was time for him to retire to jenenevieve's house, vicki and i decided to have a few photos taken with him. we will never forget him, and, i think...we will always miss him.
as for my experience getting this photo posted...well, that part was not so fun. i had no problems opening a flickr account, uploading a photo, placing a couple of tags on the photo... and then i opened up my blogspot.com site. i did everything i was supposed to do- went into flickr to grant access, found the photo, copied and pasted the link, and yet, nothing. it comes up a huge empty square with a little r on it. thankfully, one of my co-workers was here to help, and i found that blogging directly from flickr onto my blog here was the only way to get my photo up correctly. would have been nice to know this before i spent 45 minutes trying to figure out what i was doing wrong! my hope is that the next task will be easier (oh, please let it be easier!) as for the exciting and wonderful new world of mashups- i actually had a pretty fun time making a magazine cover of 2 of my nephews. it ended up being a little cheesy, but it's all in fun, i wasn't going for an award or anything!
